One day, Jesus took His three closest disciples, Peter, James and John and went up on a high mountain, where He was transfigured:
"And as He prayed the fashion of His countenance was altered and His raiment was white and glistering. And behold, there talked with Him two men, who were Moses and Elijah. They appeared in glory and spake of His decease which He would accomplish at Jerusalem". After the vision, when Peter spoke to Him, a cloud came and overshadowed them and a voice came from it, saying "This is my beloved Son, hear Him" (Luke IX:35).
